Choosing Positivity: A Shared Path in Shaping What Comes Next

In times of uncertainty, we are reminded that focus is a choice. And more than ever, we choose to place our energy on the positives — on the progress, the people, and the moments that quietly move the industry forward.

This month, one of those moments feels especially meaningful.

Our Founder and CEO, Kristina Bråteng, is featured in Construction Week Middle East as part of their special edition “Her Moment” — a series highlighting women shaping the construction and design industry across the region. It is a recognition that resonates not as an individual spotlight, but as part of a broader, collective narrative.

To be included among such a diverse and accomplished group across the Middle East is, above all, a shared honour. Their impact is seen not only in the projects they deliver, but in the teams they build, the standards they elevate, and the way they lead within an industry that demands both precision and resilience.

A leadership grounded in reality.

Kristina’s path into construction was shaped early by a simple, lasting understanding: buildings are not just designed — they are built, tested, and lived in.

With a background in architecture and interior design, and early exposure to real estate and residential development, she developed a perspective rooted in how things actually come together. This naturally led her closer to construction — from concept to coordination, from detailing to delivery.

Over time, the distinction between design and build became less meaningful. Today, at B8 Architecture, projects are approached as a continuous process, where ideas are carried through with care and accountability. Because ultimately, vision only matters if it holds its integrity once built.

Building with intention in uncertain times.

The foundation of B8 Architecture itself was shaped during a period of global uncertainty.

Launched in Dubai during the COVID era, the studio began not with an ambition for scale, but with clarity of purpose. In one of the world’s most dynamic and demanding markets, the focus was simple: deliver with consistency, think long-term, and protect quality at every stage.

Since then, B8 has evolved into a multidisciplinary consultancy working across architecture, interiors, landscape, and technical delivery on projects spanning the Middle East and Europe. Yet its core approach remains unchanged — to stay close to the process, and even closer to the outcome.

Where credibility is built.

In construction, leadership is rarely abstract.

It exists in decisions made daily — often under pressure, always with real consequences. Time, cost, safety, and coordination are constant considerations, but so are people. Aligning diverse teams requires more than direction; it requires clarity, respect, and presence.

For Kristina, credibility has always been built close to the work. On site. Through preparation, consistency, and follow-through. In an industry where visibility is not always given, especially to women, this approach becomes essential — not just professionally, but personally.

Inclusion as a way of working.

At B8 Architecture, inclusion is not framed as an initiative, but as part of the structure itself.

Women are present across leadership, technical teams, and site roles — contributing to decisions, shaping outcomes, and bringing different perspectives to the table. In a region evolving as rapidly as the Middle East, this shift feels both natural and necessary. The future of the industry will be defined by diversity in thought as much as by technical expertise.

A shared moment.

“Her Moment” reflects exactly that — a collective shift, made visible.

To Construction Week, thank you for creating space for these stories. And to every woman featured, and those contributing beyond the spotlight, your impact continues to shape the industry in ways both seen and unseen.

Because moments like this are not just about recognition.

They are about direction.
